Job Description

Level 4 Emergency Doctor: Emergency Unit

Minimum Requirements:

  • Primary qualification of MBChB (or equivalent).
  • Registration with the HPCSA in the category of Independent Practice.
  • Relevant medical indemnity insurance.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in emergency medicine.
  • Currency in BLS and at least two of the following courses:
    • ATLS, ACLS, PALS

Recommendations:

  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

  • Managing patient care in the ER Consulting Inc. emergency unit.
  • Complaint resolution through relevant PCM.
  • Clinical duties, which may include nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Participation in an on call system for the Emergency Unit.
  • Assisting in the Clinical Governance program in the Emergency Unit as set by the Clinical Director.
  • Promoting the image of the practice and the company to the hospital, specialists and the community.
  • Ensure that they are trained in the relevant short medical courses, as required by the Service Level Agreement with each hospital group.
  • Attend at least 6 Morbidity and Mortality Meetings annually.

Basic Terms of Employment:

  • Total number of clinical hours: 200 / 180 / 160 hours per month.
  • Clinical hours will be remunerated at level of clinical deployment of the candidate.
  • 15 days leave, 3 days of study leave and 3 days of family responsibility leave per annum
  • The successful applicant must comply with the Company’s compulsory training program.
  • Successful compliance with all job deliverables based on an annual performance review with relevant PCM.
